They say a picture is worth a thousand words. With the help of various Instagram apps, you can make your picture worth twice as much. Instagram quickly rose in popularity due to how easily it allowed everyone to become a photographer. The speed and ease of sharing pictures of one’s own lunch made Instagram a guilty pleasure for more than a 100 million of its users.

BeHappy.me
This online app focuses on creating your own inspirational quote that can be easily made into a Facebook cover. It offers 35 symbols, 20 font choices, and 30 backgrounds to play with, though you can’t upload your own picture as a background. It’s simple to use – type in the box on the left and click any number of symbols to insert them into the picture. The preview will appear in the picture on the right. By clearing the “Apply static fontsize” checkbox, you can make each line have a different size by pressing Enter after it. The website also offers the option of putting your quote up for sale and sharing 30% of any proceeds with you.

Inspirably.com
Inspirably will greet you with two boxes: in the top one, you enter your quote, while in the bottom one you write your name. Click “Submit” and you will be taken to the page where you can actually edit the picture. You can upload your own picture as a background and change its properties with four sliders, but font type and color can’t be changed as easily. There are two buttons for each font category and you can only go “Next” and “Previous”, which means you will probably have to go through all font types and colors to see if there is any you like more. Resulting picture can’t be downloaded without registering, but you can take a screenshot of it and crop it in a photo editor.

When you start Textgram, write your message into the box and then use the buttons at the bottom to decorate and format your text. Then, go to the “Templates” tab and choose the one that best suits your message. You can also go over to the “Stickers” tab and add some stickers and emojis, or a picture from your gallery. Use hand gestures to resize, move and rotate these elements around in the frame. An interesting feature is text reflection, which you control with a slider. Jusgramm
Jusgramm gives you a choice between 25 fonts, 70 backgrounds and 70 stickers to use in your message. Though they are really cool, the app has some issues. You can’t add your own photo as a background and the app sometimes misplaces parts of the text, displays stickers in wrong places or produces blurry photos. That’s because the app hasn’t been updated in almost a year, causing it to have compatibility issues with some devices.

InstaText
Besides from your camera and photo gallery, InstaText also accepts pictures from your Facebook album. The resulting picture is .png and only 288×288 px, so there is no real advantage to using high resolution photos. InstaText allows you to use iOS 7 style fonts, but struggles with wrapping and resizing long text, so you should write only a few words when creating quotes in it. This could also be due to the app not being updated for a long time.
